I was recommended AdaMountain before I travelled to Kyrgyzstan because I’d planned to do some hiking for some months, before my trip to the region. When I arrived in Osh, Meken came to meet me at my hotel and very helpfully explained my options in terms of location, duration, safety, cost etc. of my hiking trip. The next day, Sergei came to collect me at 8 o’clock and we travelled to the foot of the mountain in the Alay region (the drive took approximately three hours). The experience was amazing. Sergei had thought of everything and was fantastically helpful – he made all the meals and erected the tent. He was very patient with me the whole time, especially when I began to feel slightly ill due to altitude sickness (we climbed to 4,185m); he gave me some medicine to help with the nausea. The place itself was incredible: the scenery was spectacular and I saw many more animals (cows, goats, yaks) than people. In total, it took us six hours to ascend and three hours to descend the next day. I strongly recommend AdaMountain to anyone thinking of going hiking in southern Kyrgyzstan. Meken and Sergei are experts on the region and are medically trained, too. The price, too, was very good and I was happy to have received such a professional service. I can’t wait to return to Kyrgyzstan and do some more hiking with AdaMountain!
